Astondoa, the 100-year old shipyard that just celebrated its centennial anniversary in Spain this summer, left Cannes with the Shipyard of the Year award.
Astondoa also received a nomination for its new 655 Coupe as one of the Most Innovative Yachts, a totally new, revolutionary yacht that made its debut at the centennial anniversary this year.
Astondoa is used to being on the podium at this award ceremony as in 2013 the shipyard won the “Best External Design” award for the Top Deck 63’, a unique expandable, “floating island” created by Luiz deBasto. In 2007 and 2008 Astondoa also took the “Best Interior Design” Award for its 52 GLX and the 76 GLX Express Yachts, respectively, demonstrating the talent of its in-house design, engineering, and custom-building team.
The World Yacht Trophy Awards were held on September 10 at the conclusion of the Yachting Festival of Cannes, presenting over a decade of excellence, hosted by Yachts France magazine. Over 700 guests attended the event, which wrapped up the with a yacht parade, awards celebration and dancing till the early morning.
